        Cadiz

Cadiz, the oldest city in Europe, is one of the most beautiful cities in Andalusia and is well worth visiting to discover its character and authenticity. Fiestas, gastronomy, culture, great atmosphere... Cadiz has it all!

        Discover the past

Known as the Tacita de Plata (Little Silver Cup), the city of Cadiz was founded in 1100 B.C. by the Phoenicians, who made Gadir one of the most important commercial colonies in the Iberian peninsula. This cultural and economic splendour led to the construction of the city’s most important monuments during that period, such as the Cathedral, which combines the baroque and neoclassical styles with great panache and is located just 200m from Tandem Puerto Chino.

        Tapas in Cadiz

If you visit Cadiz, you cannot forget to taste the delicious original tapas on Calle Zorrilla or in the Barrio de la Viña district, the ideal place to try caballa con piriñaca (mackerel with Cadiz-style chopped tomato salad). And you cannot leave without trying pescaíto frito (fried fish), cazón en adobo (marinated fried fish), or tortilla de camarones (shrimp fritters). You will love them!

        Cadiz Carnival

Without doubt, one of the most important dates in the city’s calendar is the Carnival, known as a Festival of International Tourist Interest. This celebration, which lasts almost a month, attracts the attention of thousands of people visiting the city to soak up the festive atmosphere in its streets, where choirs, Chirigota folk singers and comparsa performers are in charge of recounting current events in a mocking and daring manner.

        A walk along its beaches

Cadiz has four beaches: La Caleta, Santa María del Mar, La Victoria and Cortadura. Despite being concentrated into a few kilometres, they are all very different to each other: while La Caleta and Santa Maria del Mar as smaller, Victoria and Cortadura are the largest. The latter is also the furthest away from the urban environment.
