        Hiking

        • Route of Muiños do Río Xabrega: This route traverses the most important mills of Sober, located along the Xabrega stream. It begins at Pouso do Branco and passes by restored mills, water channels, and beautiful landscapes. Along the way, you can admire Roque do Arroxó’s mill, Nemesio da Boca’s mills, and Ramiro da Boca’s mill, among others. A journey back in time that connects you with the region’s history.

        • Route of Augacaída – Castro de Marce: Featuring an impressive 40-metre waterfall, Augacaída is one of the most beautiful in the area. The trail leads to the Castro de Marce, a natural viewpoint overlooking the River Miño. Along the way, you can observe remnants of traditional architecture and the stunning castro settlement.

        • Route of the Belesar Vineyards: This route, just over four kilometres long, follows the River Miño, passing through vineyards and nature, and ends in the village of A Veiga. It begins in Belesar, where you can enjoy views of the Church of San Bartolomeu and the vineyards on the valley’s slopes. A perfect route for nature and wine enthusiasts.

        Viewpoints

        • Santiorxo: Located in the parish of Sober, at 538 metres above sea level, this viewpoint offers a unique view of the final stretch of the Santo Estevo reservoir and the Sil River gorge. Just an 8-minute drive from the hotel, it’s ideal for admiring the natural landscape and enjoying the tranquil surroundings.

        • A Cividade: A cutting-edge viewpoint designed by architect Isabel Aguirre, elevated above the terrain and perfect for viewing stunning sunsets. This 30-metre corten steel platform blends seamlessly with the landscape and is an 8-minute drive from Santiorxo.

        • Pena do Castelo: Situated over 600 metres high, this viewpoint offers spectacular views of the Amandi vineyards and the southern shore of the Sil Canyon. A 33-minute drive from A Cividade, it’s an excellent spot to take in the beauty of the Ribeira Sacra.

        • As Penas de Matacás: At this viewpoint, located on the natural border between Lugo and Ourense provinces, you can enjoy views of the Amandi sub-region vineyards and the Sil River banks. An 18-minute drive from Pena do Castelo, it’s a unique place to immerse yourself in nature.

        • Balcones de Madrid: This viewpoint in Parada de Sil is famous as the place where women used to bid farewell to their emigrant husbands. A 40-minute drive from As Penas de Matacás, it offers breathtaking views of the Sil Valley.

        • Cabezoás: Located in Parada de Sil, this viewpoint reveals the last meander of the Sil River before it reaches Nogueira de Ramuín. With a wooden walkway and a platform highlighting the views, it’s the perfect spot to enjoy the vegetation and river landscape. A 10-minute drive from Balcones de Madrid.

        Monasteries and Castles

        • Tower of Homage (Monforte de Lemos): This tower, located on San Vicente Hill, is part of a medieval castle that was once a fortified city in the Middle Ages. Today, it houses an exhibition about its history and that of Monforte de Lemos. Open Thursday to Sunday, with tickets from €1.50.

        • Pazo Museo de Tor (Monforte de Lemos): A historic building with an important library, a collection of 14th-15th century armour, and 16th-century furniture. Guided tours are available by reservation, and admission is free. Open Tuesday to Sunday.

        • Castle of Castro Caldelas: Belonging to the Counts of Lemos, this castle preserves a double wall and three defensive towers. It was burned by locals during the War of Independence. Open daily, with tickets from €2.

        • Santo Estevo de Ribas de Sil (Ourense): One of the most imposing monasteries in the Ribeira Sacra, it is now a National Parador of Tourism. You can visit its three cloisters, the church, and the rear wooded area. Admission is free.

        • Santa Cristina de Ribas de Sil (Ourense): This Romanesque monastery, considered a gem of Ribeira Sacra’s Romanesque art, is located in a privileged setting surrounded by chestnut trees. Open in May and June, with tickets starting at €2.

        • San Pedro de Rocas (Ourense): Galicia’s oldest rock monastery, featuring a church carved into the rock and anthropomorphic tombs. The Interpretation Centre will help you understand the history of the Ribeira Sacra. Admission is free.
